Can the Marketing Department Change a Tire?

It’s not very often that you intentionally deflate your own tires, but in the name of elementary automotive education, that’s exactly what the NWMS Marketing Team did.

One of the best life skills you can learn is how to change a tire. The last thing you want is to be stuck on the side of the freeway with a flat tire with no clue what to do. So, the NWMS team set out with the simple goal of making a video on how to change your tire.

Luckily for us, we work at a dealership FULL of talented vehicle experts who could change a tire blindfolded. But, instead of going to the experts, we took the least vehicle-savvy people in this place (a.k.a. the Marketing Department) to show you a step-by-step guide on changing a tire. If WE can do it, so can you.

The team met outside of the tire bay to hurriedly put together the how-to video. When we make a tire-changing video, we’re not going to cut corners. So, in the name of authenticity, we used a stick to deflate the tire down to about nine psi, less than the psi of a regulation NFL football (unless you’re Tom Brady). Once the tire was thoroughly deflated, it was time to get to work.

The first step was to loosen the lug nuts and jack up the car. Once we found a jack that would fit under the car, we realized we didn’t have a handle to turn the scissor jack. Luckily for us, Corben Parsons, NWMS’s very-own tire expert, was there to save the day. Supplied with a handle to crank the jack, Erik starting to crank the handle and lift his car. If you’ve ever operated a scissor jack, you know it isn’t the easiest thing to operate. Erik had to remove the handle and reinsert it into the keyhole after every 180-degree rotation.

“I’ve never gotten something in the hole this many times in a row before,” Erik said as he skillfully turned the handle to jack up his car.

This is a good reminder to always check that you have the necessary equipment to change the tire in your vehicle. Unfortunately, if you get a flat on the side of the freeway, you won’t have Corben there to help.

Once the wheel was completely off the ground, Erik removed the lug nuts and rolled the tire into the shop. Once again, Corben came to the rescue with the air compressor to inflate the tire. In the blink of an eye, the tire was inflated to the perfect size.

Lifting the perfectly inflated tire over his head, Erik gleefully ran back to his car.

“I’m doing man things,” Erik yelled jubilantly right before almost dropping the tire on his head. In case you didn’t already know, running with tires is not a safe activity.

Once the tire was back on the car, Erik tightened the lug nuts and lowered it back down. With his tire inflated to perfection, Erik victoriously drove off into the sunset.

Not only was this video informational, but we think it was also motivational. If the Marketing Department can change a tire, you can too.

Don’t worry; if you’re thinking of buying a truck from us, the Marketing Department won’t be inflating the tires. All our vehicles have been serviced, detailed and modified by experts like Corben.
